We were driving to a friend’s birthday party when the phone buzzed, informing us that an e-mail had just come in. Gina opened it, whispering „We got it, we got it, we got it!“ with Chris constantly interrupting „Is it what I think it is? Is it? Tell me!!“ It was what he thought it was. We were officially named one of Rangefinder’s 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography 2017.

So after stopping the car, doing a little happy dance that must have weirded out the neighbor’s big time and sitting through the party being unable to wipe that smile off our faces (probably leading everyone to assume we had just a little bit too much of that sickly sweet party punch!) there were long weeks of waiting ahead of us until we could finally share these amazing news with you.

Nonetheless, we actually procrastinated writing this post for a couple of days. Not because we didn’t want to write it, but more so, because something quite unusual happened to us – we were completely out of words. We have always been following the yearly announcement of Rangefinder’s 30 Rising Stars closely, because so many photographers we truly admire have received this award over the years. People whose talent, work ethic and creative output were a wonderful example during our first shaky steps in the world of wedding photography. Now finding ourselves amongst them feels surreal.

Pouring your heart into your work and then putting it out there for the world to see is a scary undertaking. We started out telling people’s stories the only way we knew how. In a way that felt right for us. Realizing that this work means something to people beyond our wonderful couples that trust us with their memories and our moms (ha!) makes us so proud and we’ll probably need a little longer until we have processed it all.

Thanks to the amazing team at Rangefinder. Thanks to all of you following along on various channels, for your support, your hearts and thumbs ups, your kind messages. And most importantly, thanks to our wild couples – if it wasn’t for you inviting us into your middle, letting us capture these stories for you, none of this would’ve been possible.

Please follow this link to head on over to Rangefinder and take a look at the gallery as well as all the other amazing folks we are so very honored to find ourselves amongst.

Always learning. Always growing. Always onward.
